Late spring through early fall gives us the longest stretches of dry weather, so that is when most reroofs happen. That said, we work year-round and can safely tear off and dry-in a roof between storms in the wet season when a home can't wait. How does moss actually affect a roof here?
Moss thrives on our damp, shaded north slopes and works its way under shingles, lifting and separating them so water gets underneath. Left alone it holds moisture against the roof and speeds up decay of both the shingles and the decking below.
